Last June, I had the privilege of leading a few lovely ladies in a “Girlfriend’s retreat” in Sedona, AZ. Held June 6-7th, 2015, it offered opportunities for some wonderful self care, a little sight seeing, a great poolside yoga practice, and more! Here are a few of the highlights of that retreat. If you are interested in joining me for a future retreat, please use the contact us form at the top of the page.
The retreat was located in beautiful Sedona, AZ.
And held at the Sedona Hilton Resort and Spa. (The Sedona Hilton Resort and Spa is also the location of the 2016 Sedona Yoga Festival.)
Upon arriving in Sedona, we ate lunch at Chocolatree; an organic, vegetarian café known for its assortment of organic chocolate (made on site).
We enjoyed a complimentary drink at check in, and enjoyed a spacious suite for our overnite stay. One of the things I wanted to be at the forefront of this particular trip was that the ladies (who were all working, busy Moms) had time to just relax. We visited leisurely, poolside, for an hour after checking into our room. The ladies seemed to appreciate having time to just sit, relax, visit…breathe.
As we had a few hours before dinner, retreat participants were given the option of free time, a chance to visit the resort’s day spa, take a dip in the pool, or make their own essential oil blends with me. The latter proved to be the unanimous choice. Participants were given a small tutorial on essential oils (how they are extracted from plants, how they are beneficial, and how I use them in my yoga and meditation practices). Guests were given all supplies to make two of their own 10ml rollerballs of their favorite oils (mixed to NAHA standards in a carrier oil) to take home with them.
Following our essential oils mini-class, we dressed for dinner. Our dinner that evening was held at Cucina Rustica; a short walk (or even shorter drive) from the resort. Cucina Rustica’s cuisine is Rustic Italian using a traditional saute method; fine dining with amazing comfort food; both vegetarian and vegan entrees were available. They use only organic produce and honor a “farm to table” practice with local growers, making it a perfect place to enjoy dinner and conversation.
A poolside yoga practice was enjoyed the following morning.
Lunch was enjoyed at the Secret Garden Café, at Tlaquepaque. This all organic café has been a longtime favorite of mine. (That’s my awesome friend, Debi, pictured below.)
After lunch, there was time to browse the beautiful shops in the Tlaquepaque center before heading out of town. As we left Sedona, we made a stop at Sacred Light of Sedona. Sacred Light of Sedona is a healing & learning center. Their mission is to cultivate individual and community growth and create sacred space so you can discover who you really are and assist you in finding your soul’s purpose. They also offer a fabulous collection of crystals, art & gifts for sale. Two of our participants decided to have a reading done while there. It was a perfect place to top off the great time we had the past 24 hours.
